9 September 2006

Phew, where has the time gone? Long time no update!

All Anastasia and Mouse's babies are sold. I have kept 3 for breeding purposes. See the Gallery for pics!

Espresso had 7 Husky babies, the 3 girls have already been booked. I still have 4 boys available. Click on the thumbnails below to see bigger images!

It seems that Devon has since become infertile. :-( Lucky we have some of his offspring, so Dahlia will be bred to Devons son, Cedric who is a Black Eyed Himilayan, carrying Dumbo. So we are hoping for Dumbo ears, black eyes and siamese in that litter :-)

Moggie has been covered by Knerses and I expect arrival of that litter on 25 September.
Mouse has been covered again by Polar, we hope for some interesting markings in that upcoming litter! This will be Mouse's second and last litter.

Some more ratties left flew to Cape Town on 1 August, and are all happy in their new homes. :-)

Ted the Rex tailless, also appears to be infertile. He has undergone fertility treatment and we will hold thumbs that there might still be some rex babies forthcoming...

7 June 2006

The May edition of Animaltalk has come and gone.

Upcoming litters are being planned: Mouse x Ollie for some Dumbo eared babies in black and agouti, and Anastasia x Mussolini for some blue blazed babies. Mouse should be delivering on the 25th of June, and Anastasia and Mussolini are getting acquainted. Book your babies now to avoid disappointment!

The next set of breedings will happen within a month or so:
Moggie x Mussolini
for some black and possibly blue blazed. Moggie is TINY and Mussolini is not too big either so we are hoping for some true pocket sized pets.

Delia x Devon
Delia is a lovely dumbo eared himilayan self and will be bred to the black eyed siamese Devon. We are hoping for some black eyed siamese babies from this litter. They will carry Dumbo, and at a much later stage we will breed the offspring to put the dumbo ears on the black eyed siamese. :-)

Huskies
We are planning a husky breeding towards the end of June to have babies by middle of August. I am still deciding if I should breed Espresso back to her sire Wolf, or to her full brother.

All the other babies and the imported stock are still hale and healthy.  We seem to be having fertility problems with our only rex, Teddy. He is currently undergoing treatment ;-) and we hope to have some offspring from him soon.

To date, we have flown 7 ratties down to Cape Town, and all arrived safely.

Those babies have been keeping me busy :-) Alaska is doing fine, and back in the girls cage with the other girls whose babies have been weaned. I have been busy socializing the babies. And boy, can they eat! :-P
We have had some remarkable colors and markings:

-Raven produced: 1x russian silver blazed, 1x russian dove blazed, 3x blue blazed and 4 black blazed.
-Freya produced 11 burmese, and one black eyed himilayan.

-Honey produced a bunch of champagnes, silver fawn (amber) and some hoodeds in those colors.

-Monkey produced gorgeous dumbos in agouti hooded, blazed, variberk, variberk with headspot, siamese, and PEW (pink eyed white)

-Bonnie produced our first ever true Black Eyed White, a black blazed, 2x siamese/beige (time will tell which) mismarked headspot, 2x black headspot, and PEW babies

-Bushbaby produced beautiful silver pearl, some cinnamon pearl, cinnamon berks with headspots, and a baldie.

-Minky produced 2x black downunder hooded, and 2x hooded. The 'Grubs' as I affectionately call them - with so little competition for food, they are the chubbiest babies ever!

-Orla produced 7 Harleys (long hair) of which most are PEW, some might be himilayan and one siamese. Her normal hair babies are a mix of siamese/himilayan and PEW, all with gorgeous dumbo ears.

- Onyx lost one baby, so 12 remain. looks like 3 banded huskies (yay!), some light colored ones (will have to see how they turn out) and what might be chocolate.*crosses fingers*

Monkey's and Orla's dumbo eared babies are by far the cutest! We hope that they will be as sweet tempered as their parents.

Congratulations to Annalie, Maureen and Else who have taken babies home, and we have more booked and leaving this weekend.

___________

Our article in Animaltalk will be out in the April edition.  There are babies ready for re-homing from this weekend(18th March). Orla's babies will be ready on the 25th March.
Onyx's babies will be ready 8 April. I will try my best to get photos up!

5 March 2006

Unfortunately, Alaska lost all 14 of her babies. :*-( The first little guy was born alive, but Alaska was not producing any milk, and stopped having contractions and she was bleeding quite heavily.. A trip to the emergency vet, 2 shots of Oxytocin, calcium and subcutaneous fluids, and eventually she was relieved of the remaining 13. We tried to get Orla to look after the firstborn (which, being the good mother she is, she was only too happy to do) but unfortunately the little bub was too weak to drink and passed away.
Onyx gave birth to 13 little bubs late at night. Both mom and babies are doing fine.
